President's Message

Greetings from the President
tânisi
I am very pleased to welcome new and returning students to First Nations University of Canada.
Since I joined the institution, I have had the opportunity to meet with the Elders, staff, faculty and students. I am impressed by availability of support to our students through Student Success Services, our academic community and, of course, the Elders.
As students of FNUniv, I encourage you to learn from our Elders and faculty and take pride in your First Nations roots. Traditional knowledge systems and western European knowledge systems complement and strengthen each other for the benefit of First Nations, Canada, and the global community.
As we celebrate our 35th Anniversary as a Federated College of the University of Regina, know that you are part of the original vision of this institution. You are the knowledge carriers. Our Elders tell us that education will sustain First Nations people now and in the future just as the buffalo did for Plains Indian people generations ago. Today, education is our buffalo. Today, this great university is helping to sustain First Nations people and strengthen Canada.
I am excited and honoured to be able to work with you to help you prepare to take your place as our leaders of tomorrow.
Dr. Doyle Anderson
President,
First Nations University of Canada
