Eagle Heart Centre
Position:
The Family Support Worker provides intensive, hands-on support to children, youth, and families
through supervised family time, in-home services, advocacy, and follow-up based on Ministry of
Social Services case plans. The role is designed to promote child safety, build parental capacity,
and support safe and timely reunification whenever possible. The FSW works as part of a
multidisciplinary team and is expected to balance direct service delivery, accurate
documentation, and collaboration with Child Protection Workers, internal colleagues, and
community partners. Services are delivered in a manner that is culturally safe, trauma-informed,
and strength-based, reflecting Eagle Heart Centre’s values and universal competencies.
Education:
Grade 12; post-secondary or equivalent, post – secondary certificate/degree in Human Services,
Youth Care, Social Work, Indigenous Studies or related field would be an asset. Education and
experience working with children, families or in a human services environment an asset.
Qualifications:
• Commitment to Eagle Heart Centre’s mission, vision, and values, with strong cultural safety
and trauma-informed practice.
• Working knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act, child protection issues, foster care
policies, and related legislation.
• Awareness of domestic violence, addictions, and child development, including pre- and postnatal care considerations.
• Clear and respectful communication skills for engaging families, staff, and ministry partners.
• Ability to mentor and support monitors through feedback, coaching, and on-the-floor
training.
• Strong organizational skills, with accuracy in reporting and proficiency in Microsoft Office
and scheduling databases.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and escalate issues
appropriately.
• Flexibility, reliability, and adaptability in a high-volume, family-focused environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Required Criminal Record Check and CPR/First Aid Certificate.
• Drivers abstract, valid drivers license and reliable car.
