Early Childhood Educator

Description

The Early Childhood Educator plays a vital role in nurturing the development of young children in the Caring Nest program. Reporting to the Caring Nest Team Lead, this role provides a safe, stimulating, and culturally grounded learning environment that supports holistic child development. The Educator develops and implements age-appropriate curriculum, engages families, mentors ECE Helpers, and contributes to program excellence through planning, documentation, and continuous improvement. Consistent with Eagle Heart Centres mission, this role emphasizes cultural safety, trauma-informed practice, and Indigenous worldviews in all aspects of program delivery.

Commitment to EHCs mission, cultural safety, and trauma-informed practice when working with Indigenous children and families.
Clear communication skills for engaging with children, families, staff, and community partners.
Strong organizational skills, reliability, and ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
Knowledge of classroom behavior management, learning centers, and the role of play in child development.
Ability to prepare accurate reports, journals, and documentation for internal and funder requirements.
Professional judgment, problem-solving, and ability to work under pressure.
Capacity to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Dependability, punctuality, and adaptability in varied program settings.
Commitment to health, wellness, and being a positive role model for children, families, and the community.
Current CPR/First Aid Certificate.
Provide a Criminal Record Check.
