Position:
The Senior Kids First Home Visitor supports the delivery of the Kids First Program by assisting the Team Lead in maintaining quality service delivery, accurate reporting, and consistent data management. This position also carries a small caseload of families, providing in-home support for parents with children prenatal to age three through a strength-based, family-centered, and culturally safe approach. The Senior Home Visitor models professionalism promotes best practices in family engagement and provides peer guidance to Home Visitors under the direction of the Team Lead. This role reflects Eagle Heart Centre’s mission to strengthen families and communities through cultural safety, trauma-informed practice, and Indigenous worldviews.
Education:
Grade 12 or GED equivalency required, post-secondary coursework in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or a related field preferred. Minimum two (2) years of experience in home visiting, family support, or early childhood development. Training or experience with Growing Great Kids, Growing Great Families, and Integrated Strategies preferred.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated cultural humility and understanding of Indigenous worldviews, values, and community connections.
Knowledge of early childhood development, attachment theory, and trauma-informed practice.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships with families, coworkers, and community partners.
Proven ability to model professionalism, ethical behavior, and appropriate professional boundaries.
Competence in data management systems (preferably KIMS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance caseload, documentation, and reporting deadlines.
Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in sensitive or crisis situations, exercising discretion and empathy.
Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and initiative when working both independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to continuous learning, reflective practice, and participation in professional development.
Ability to lift and carry program materials up to 30 lbs, climb stairs, and travel between home visits in various weather and home conditions while maintaining professionalism and safety awareness.
Strong understanding of child development, attachment theory, and the social determinants of health.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, reliable insured vehicle, and clean SGI Driver’s Abstract.
Current CPR/First Aid and Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check.
