Celebrating the FNUniv 2025 Spring Graduates

June 26, 2025

On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) proudly hosted its annual Spring Graduation at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina, SK.

With over 800 esteemed guests in attendance, including proud graduates, their families, faculty, dignitaries, Elders, friends, and special visitors, the venue hummed with excitement as everyone awaited the grand entry procession, marking the beginning of a truly momentous event.

This traditional celebration at FNUniv stands as a vital milestone, culminating in the presentation of the university’s unique leather-embossed scroll. This extraordinary symbol embodies the hard work and dedication of the graduates and captures the essence of perseverance, resilience, pride, and achievement. It signifies the successful completion of a transformative journey for all 174 graduates, inspiring them to embrace their potential and step confidently into their futures.

The afternoon was a celebration of success, honouring seventeen diploma recipients, fifty-five certificate holders, ninety-five bachelor’s degrees, and nine master’s graduates. A special acknowledgment is due to Dr. Susannah Walker, who recently earned her PhD in Public Policy from the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Regina. Dr. Walker exemplifies the dedication and excellence we strive for in our community.

The inspiring words of Spring 2025 Valedictorian Kirstie Young, an Indigenous Social Work graduate, resonated deeply with her fellow graduates, motivating them to pursue their dreams. Following her, Regan Alexis Isnana, another Indigenous Social Work graduate and honouree, delivered the Alumni Address, further igniting the passion within the audience.

After the official retirement of the eagle staff and flags, a reception and photo booth provided new alumni with a chance to capture lasting memories of this incredible celebration.

The official parchments were presented to graduates from June 11 to 13 at the University of Regina Convocation, marking not just the end of an era, but the beginning of a promising journey ahead.
