Regina SK – The First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) is honoured to announce a new student scholarship partnership with Innovation Federal Credit Union. Beginning in Fall 2025, Innovation Federal Credit Union will be providing $25,000 per year for three years, totaling $75,000 in scholarship funding. Each year, the funding will provide ten (10) Innovation Federal Credit Union No Essay Scholarships of $2,500 each to be awarded to Indigenous FNUniv students.
“It is truly fitting that we are announcing this new scholarship partnership with Innovation Federal Credit Union on National Indigenous People’s Day”, said Dr. Jacqueline Ottmann, President, First Nations University of Credit Union, “Our students are grateful for the support, and Innovation’s financial contributions to the success of FNUniv students is a true example of Reconciliation. We deeply appreciate this new partnership with Innovation Federal Credit Union”.
The purpose of Innovation’s “no essay” Scholarships is to make it as easy as possible for the students to receive funding – being a student is hard enough! Scholarships will be awarded to Indigenous students of all genders and identities, across all FNUniv program areas with a focus on full-time FNUniv students from Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Ontario.
“At Innovation Federal Credit Union, we believe being a student comes with it’s own challenges – so this is our way of helping students by providing easy access to scholarships. By equipping these bright minds with the resources they need, we are fostering the next generation of leaders who will drive positive change in their communities and beyond. Our commitment to advancing Truth & Reconciliation is at the core of this partnership, reflecting our dedication to building meaningful relationships and creating opportunities that matter,” said Derek Vanthuyne, Vice President, Strategy, Innovation Federal Credit Union.
The respective deadlines for applications for the annual awarding of the scholarships will be October 31, 2025, February 28, 2026, and February 28, 2027.
