pamināwasowin Child Care Centre Celebrates New Playground Opening

June 18, 2025

The First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) proudly celebrated the grand opening of the new playground at pamināwasowin Child Care Centre June 18th, 2025, marking a joyful and culturally rich milestone for families, students, and staff across the FNUniv community.

Held in conjunction with National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21st, 2025, the celebration served as both a moment of community connection and a tribute to Indigenous identity, values, and future generations.

Children from the daycare community took centre stage with traditional dancing and drumming, sharing their spirit and energy with those in attendance. The ceremony was guided with care and cultural protocol by Roland Kaye, who ensured the event honoured traditional practices in a respectful and appropriate way.

The playground was designed to support the physical, emotional, and cultural well-being of young children attending the centre. Its opening represents a continued commitment by FNUniv to provide a nurturing, land-based, and culturally grounded environment for learning.

FNUniv extends heartfelt thanks to all the families, staff, Elders, and community members who made this milestone possible — and to everyone who joined in this celebration of children, culture, and community.

A special heartfelt thanks goes to Mother Theresa School dance troupe and the Buffalo Boy’s drum group for supporting this momentous event.
