A dedicated group of students from the Indigenous Social Work program has successfully completed the requirements for their Certificate.
From June 23 to June 30, 2026, students from the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, who are enrolled in the Community-Based Indigenous Social Work program, participated in the Deschambault Lake Culture Camp in northern Saskatchewan. This weeklong culture camp is a significant component of the program, particularly as it occurred within the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation community.
During the camp, participants engaged in valuable medicine teachings, including the traditional practice of making medicine from tree gum. Additionally, they took part in other ceremonies and craft-making activities such as moose hair work and beadwork.
The INSW Cohort began with eighteen students, and it is noteworthy that they will all graduate together at the Fall 2026 convocation, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.
