Regina, SK — Lionel Peyachew has been named a 2026 recipient of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit, the province’s highest honour, recognizing individuals who have demonstrated excellence and made significant contributions to the social, cultural, and economic well-being of Saskatchewan.
Established in 1985, the Saskatchewan Order of Merit commends excellence across a range of fields, including community leadership, education, heritage, and public service. Recipients are selected for their outstanding achievements and lasting impact on communities throughout the province and beyond.
Peyachew is being honoured for his meaningful contributions and dedication, joining a distinguished group of individuals whose work continues to shape Saskatchewan in profound ways.
The Saskatchewan Order of Merit is presented by the Lieutenant Governor, who serves as Chancellor of the Order. Members are entitled to use the post-nominal letters S.O.M. for life, reflecting their place among the province’s most respected and impactful citizens.
Peyachew will be formally invested with the Order at a ceremony in Regina in June 2026.
