Dr. Edward Doolittle Featured on CBC Ideas Discussing Indigenous Mathematics

January 9, 2026

On December 19, 2025, an episode of CBC Radio One’s Ideas featured FNUniv’s Dr. Edward Doolittle, Associate Professor of Mathematics, who shared his perspectives on Indigenous approaches to mathematics.

In November 2025, Dr. Doolittle gave a talk at the University of Waterloo, recorded by CBC for their Ideas program. The presentation focused on mathematics and spirituality, highlighting how creation stories and Indigenous worldviews can shape the foundations of mathematics.

Dr. Doolittle hopes that exploring Indigenous approaches to mathematics will make the subject more meaningful and accessible for students, while also showing how deeply math is connected to everyday life.
