FNUniv Celebrates Dedicated Employees at Long Service Awards

November 29, 2025

On Friday, November 28, our university community convened at the FNUniv Regina Campus for the annual Long Service Awards Banquet, a cherished occasion dedicated to recognizing the unwavering dedication, commitment, and significant contributions of our esteemed team members.

The evening commenced with a prayer by Elder Margaret Rockthunder, followed by remarks from President Jacqueline Ottmann, which set a reflective and appreciative atmosphere for the night. Attendees were treated to an exceptional dinner catered by kôhkom Bea’s before transitioning into the awards program.

The event was hosted by Trina Joseph, Executive Director of the Northern Campus, alongside Student Ambassador Alana Bear. Awards honouring those with 5, 10, 25, and 35 years of service included a range of thoughtful gifts, from an elegantly engraved pen and a magnificent desk clock to an honoured eagle feather and a buffalo sculpture, presented to the recipient with 35 years of service.

Knowledge Keeper Dennis Omeasoo enriched the evening by speaking about the significance of the eagle feather and offering a prayer as it was presented to Dr. Sharon Acoose, the 25-year recipient and Professor in Indigenous Social Work, who is based at the Saskatoon Campus. Additionally, Louise McCallum, who has devoted over 35 years to the Indigenous Social Work department at FNUniv, received a buffalo sculpture with an engraved plaque as a memorable gift of appreciation for her remarkable contributions.

To conclude the evening, Dennis Omeasoo delivered a closing prayer, and Aaron Tootoosis performed an honour song for all recipients. Those in attendance joined together in offering their best wishes, bringing the celebration to a thoughtful and uplifting conclusion.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who participated in celebrating the colleagues whose dedication, leadership, and years of service continue to enhance the strength of our university community.

Congratulations to all recipients!
