FNUniv Recruitment Officer Joshua Lavalley traveled to the Athabasca Region in Saskatchewan to attend the 2026 Clarence Neault Memorial Fly‑In Career Fair, held January 6–8, 2026. The event, organized by the Keewatin Community Development Association (KCDA) in partnership with Athabasca Basin Communities and ADEA Education Partners, brought career exploration opportunities to the remote communities of Black Lake, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston Lake.
Participating schools included:
• Father Porte Memorial Dene School – Black Lake
• Father Gamache Memorial School – Fond du Lac
• Father Megret High School – Wollaston Lake
The tour was well organized and well received across all three communities. According to the KCDA comprehensive report, a total of 370 students in grades 6–12 participated, providing FNUniv a valuable opportunity to engage with youth and raise awareness of its programs.
Many students were introduced to FNUniv for the first time and showed strong interest in the opportunity to study at an Indigenous‑led institution with campuses in Prince Albert and southern Saskatchewan.
Students and staff collected program guides and promotional materials to learn more about FNUniv’s academic offerings. The organizers’ BINGO card system ensured full interaction with attendees, including staff and teachers interested in pursuing additional education.
The communities of Black Lake, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston Lake demonstrated exceptional hospitality and highlighted the talent and potential of their youth, making the experience memorable and impactful for FNUniv.
FNUniv looks forward to building on the relationships formed during this career fair tour. We encourage interested students, educators, and community members to connect with our recruitment team, explore our academic programs, and discover how FNUniv can support their educational journey.
