Regina, SK — October 21, 2025
First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) recently welcomed a group of high school students from Brazil as part of an international exchange program with schools in the Regina area. This exchange program is designed to promote English language learning and cross-cultural education, providing the students with a multi-week immersive experience in Saskatchewan.
FNUniv Student Ambassador Audra Cochrane and Student Recruiter Joshua Lavalley greeted the students on campus, offering a warm welcome and an introduction to the university’s unique role in Indigenous education, knowledge, and community engagement.
During their stay in Regina, the visiting students participated in English language learning activities and toured the city to learn about Canada’s history and the lands on which they are guests. Their visit to FNUniv offered valuable insights into Indigenous histories, perspectives, and contemporary community priorities—an experience that many students felt deepened their understanding of Canada beyond the classroom.

The exchange program aims to support language development while also fostering global connections and cultural awareness among youth. FNUniv’s participation reflects the institution’s ongoing commitment to outreach, education, and relationship-building with communities around the world.
