This holiday season, about 20 preschoolers from pamināwasowin Child Care Centre filled the Atrium with joy, carrying gifts to the tipi beside the Christmas tree for the Elder’s Office Annual Elders Christmas Dinner.
In Indigenous teachings, Elders and children hold a sacred connection within the circle of life. Elders carry wisdom, language, and traditions, while children represent hope, joy, and continuity.
When these generations come together, the circle is complete—each giving something the other needs. Elders offer guidance and grounding; children offer laughter and remind us why we nurture the future.
Through this act of giving, our youngest learners are discovering their role in the circle. They are realizing that caring for Elders is more than kindness; it is a responsibility and a privilege that uplifts and strengthens the entire community.
We are grateful to the Elder’s Office for creating opportunities that bring our campus community together across generations.
Each small, wrapped gift holds great meaning, reminding us that at FNUniv, we journey side by side, young and old, guided by love, respect, and reciprocity.
From our little ones to our Elders, Happy Holidays from the pamināwasowin family.
