At First Nations University of Canada, our alumni carry the lessons, values, and connections from their time on campus into every aspect of life. Each graduate’s journey is a testament to resilience, culture, and purpose, showing how Indigenous knowledge and community continue to shape meaningful contributions far beyond the classroom.
Through our Alumni Spotlight series, we highlight FNUniv graduates who are leading with heart, inspiring change, and uplifting communities. Each story reflects the spirit of We are Indigenous — celebrating identity, heritage, and the impact of Indigenous-led learning.

Crystal chose First Nations University of Canada as part of a desire for change and a new direction in her life. At FNUniv, she found more than an academic pathway—she found a place where she could begin to understand herself, her identity, and who she was becoming.
With strong support from Elders and a learning environment grounded in culture, Crystal was able to navigate challenges and build confidence in her abilities. She recalls moments where cultural support and guidance were especially meaningful during difficult times in her studies, helping her stay grounded and persevere.
A major milestone in her academic journey was passing math, after previously being told she would not be successful in university-level courses. Today, Crystal continues to give back to her community as a Community Justice Worker, following her earlier role as a Jordan’s Principle Intake Officer.

One word to describe FNUniv: ninanāskomon.
Terri-Lynn always knew she wanted to become a teacher, and First Nations University of Canada gave her the opportunity to pursue that dream. Her time at FNUniv became a deeply personal journey of healing, growth, and reconnection to her Cree culture.
Throughout her studies, she developed a strong sense of belonging within the FNUniv community. Cultural teachings, supportive instructors, and meaningful relationships with classmates helped her strengthen both her identity and her purpose. Culture Camps, in particular, remain some of her most impactful experiences, offering hands-on learning and lasting memories.
Today, Terri-Lynn has returned to her community, where she works as a Grad Mentor and Indigenous Student Support, helping youth reach their goals while encouraging cultural connection and growth.
