Regina, SK (Treaty 4 Territory) – First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) welcomed golfers, community leaders, partners, alumni and supporters to the 2026 President’s Cup Fundraising Classic on August 20 at Deer Valley Golf Course.
The annual tournament brought the FNUniv community and its partners together for a day of golf, connection and fundraising in support of FNUniv students and Indigenous education initiatives.
The sold-out tournament brought together 144 golfers representing 36 teams. Funds were raised through registrations, sponsorships and tournament activities, with proceeds supporting scholarships and initiatives that create opportunities for current and future FNUniv students.
“Events like the President’s Cup are about much more than a day of golf,” said Dr. Jacqueline Ottmann, President of First Nations University of Canada. “They bring our community together around a shared commitment to our students. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated, sponsored, volunteered and contributed to making this year’s tournament a success.”
Golfers took part in an 18-hole Texas Scramble, along with a $10,000 Hole-in-One Challenge, Men’s and Women’s Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin competitions, raffles and a 50/50 draw.
The President’s Cup also provided an opportunity for FNUniv partners, alumni and supporters to strengthen relationships while contributing to student success.
FNUniv extends special thanks to Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, the 2026 President’s Cup Cart Sponsor, and BHP, the Hole-in-One Sponsor, along with the tournament’s hole sponsors, contest sponsors, prize and promotional item sponsors, participating organizations and donors.
The University also recognizes the many volunteers and staff whose time and efforts helped make the tournament possible.
“Every contribution makes a difference,” said Ottmann. “The generosity shown through the President’s Cup reflects the strength of the relationships that surround First Nations University of Canada and, most importantly, the commitment our partners have to supporting the next generation of First Nations leaders.”
The 2026 President’s Cup concluded with supper and an awards presentation recognizing Championship and Consolation Flight winners, specialty contest winners and participating sponsors.
