Chief Jonathan Pasap

Vice-Chair, Board of Governors; Governance and Human Resources (GHR) Committee Member

Chief Jonathan Pasap is Chief of White Bear First Nation and Vice-Chair of the First Nations University of Canada Board of Governors. He brings significant experience in First Nations governance, business leadership, financial oversight, strategic planning, and community-based economic development.

Chief Pasap holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the First Nations University of Canada and is a graduate of the Tribal Leaders Program at Harvard Business School. As Chief of White Bear First Nation, he has led work on a five-year strategic plan focused on Treaty protection, nation building, sustainable economic growth, community engagement, and transparent leadership.

Before entering elected leadership, Chief Pasap built a strong career with the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, serving for more than 15 years in progressive management roles across several SIGA casinos. His leadership experience included senior operational and general management roles, most recently as Region East Regional General Manager, with responsibility for Dakota Dunes Casino, Painted Hand Casino, and Bear Claw Casino.

His experience contributes to the Board’s responsibilities for First Nations governance, financial stewardship, institutional strategy, and the advancement of the Inherent and Treaty right to education.
